Final Blog

During Spring Break I went to Pittsburgh to visit my older brother who was away studying at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. While in the city I became very inspired by the structure and shape of the city as well as the energy and diversity of cultures and people there. When I returned I was originally going to use these images to complete my concentration. As I went through the images I found alot that I really liked. I wanted these images to express the color and diversity of the city as well as match the rest of concentration pieces resulting in the bright colors and changes that I made on photoshop. After I made these images I made the decision to replace my concentration with these images completely in order to increase the quality level as well as make the set more cohesive. My former concentration pieces that were my personal favorites I moved to my breadth section. The images are attached below.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with the way more concentration ended up. I ended up using my concentration pieces for my quality section with the exception of one slot which I put in a former concentration piece.  Special thanks to Mrs. Holliday and Benny Poytner who walked me through the use of photoshop, as clueless as I was.

5 and 6

So here are 5 and 6 7 and 8 will be up shortly... let's see how long we can procrastinate. I like these ones better than some of my previous ones. I've never worked with oil paint before so that was a new experience, it was.... interesting. The other is another photo I took back on new years and worked with on Photoshop, which I am slowly but surely figuring out :)

Update

Here are the last two works I added to my concentrations, I like dabbling with photography and my next one plays with photoshop more, which is interesting because I'm just learning how to work it, more like fiddling really.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm really quite tired of concentration pieces. My tying element ended up being line usage and expressionistic lines but it's hard to fit those into everything especially when I want a broader view of a city. I'm glad we have a breadth piece coming up for a break.

I think I might add a bit more to my splatter paint to tie in more with the other works.

Thinking of going more abstract in the future, also I'm going to play around with focal points and stuff.
